High-rate biological treatment
The AQUABIOfix® Fixed Bed Biofilm Reactor (FFBR) is used for biological purification of high concentrated and easy degradable industrial wastewaters. The AQUABIOfix® contains structured plastic packings as support media for microorganisms and is equipped with an innovative automatic backwashing system, to avoid clogging of packings, utilizing special cascades and aeration sequences. The specific surface of support media is chosen between 100 and 200 m³/m²
The AQUABIOfix® is a more robust process than typical activated sludge processes. Due to the dense biomass on the fixed bed media, the footprint is much smaller compared to conventional systems. In classical systems easy degradable wastewaters often have operational problems due to the grows of filamentous bacteria, producing floating or bulking sludge. These disadvantages do not appear in AQUABIOfix® because the biomass is attached on the packings.
The AQUABIOfix® is suitable for treatment of highly organically contaminated industrial wastewater. It can be used for partial treatment before discharge into the public sewerage system or for full treatment.
The design of the AQUABIOfix® is made in accordance with European Standard EN 12255-7 as well as related German dimensioning regulations ATV/DVGW.
